Helping Ugandan Children

Concern for the Future, an indigenous Ugandan NGO locates forgotten children with innate talents and molds them into leaders

Concern for the Future finds very smart, motivated AIDS orphans, child soldiers, young people living in refugee camps, working children, street kids, and child-headed families in Uganda who dream of attending university but can't because of poverty, AIDS, and war.

The CFTF board and staff, all native Ugandans, select and nurture of our young scholars.

Transform a Child's Life
Concern for the Future pays their school fees and prepares them for university by providing them with everything they need to succeed including books, school supplies, medical care, food, clothes, and emotional support. These 75 exceptional children and adolescents receive leadership training while they acquire marketable 21st-century skills such as web design and video production.

Nurturing leaders is a bargain. 5000 Uganda Shillings a day ($3 US) provides a primary school student with an exceptional education plus everything they need to succeed. 8250 Uganda Shillings a day ($5 US)is all it takes to transform a high school student's life.

Concern for the Future offers its' traumatized scholars a warm and encouraging family. Our staff, aided by nine volunteers and community partners, imbue the children with a strong work ethic and a desire to serve.

Our Approach Works

• Half of our high school students attend the best ten high schools.

· Six of our 44 non-candidate students ranked 1st in their class.

· Three were 2nd in their class.

· One each placed 3rd, 4th, and 5th. ?

· Twenty -- nearly half of our students -- ranked in the top 10 of their classes. Thirty-one ranked in the top 20.

· Five of our ten candidate class students received first grades.

•Ntege Paul, who worked in a rock quarry, won a scholarship to what may be the top high school in all of Africa -- the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa
